New life for old batteries

UK supermarket group Sainsbury’s is set to boost its green credentials by becoming the first UK retailer to promote the recycling of used batteries. The scheme will allow people to send used batteries, mobile phones and ink cartridges for recycling, free of charge. The move is expected to save 2,500 tonnes of batteries from going to landfill each year.
