Oman Air has launched an incentive to Omani school leavers through its Cadet Pilot Programme.

Issued by the Omani Directorate of Civil Aviation and Meteorology at Oman Air's Flight Operation Ground School, a group of 15 young school leavers will be recruited as cadet pilots.

Applications must be entered before the 15th September 2007 with the selected candidates having to pass an initial 15 month intense training period in Australia, before being accepted as second officers and progressing to the final four month phase, after which they become first officers.

"Oman Air is committed to recruiting the best possible staff and offering Omani Nationals the opportunity to work with one of the region's most experienced airlines. The Cadet Pilot Programme is part of the training programme initiated by Oman Air for nationals," said Amar Nasser, divisional manager, human resources and administration, Oman Air.

"These programmes aim to create meaningful and rewarding employment for qualified nationals in accordance with the Omanization policy. They are designed to allow young people to gain exposure to the diverse disciplines within the airline," he added.
