Oman's Zubair set to create 1,300 new jobs

Recruitment drive part of Sultan's call to create more opportunities for Omani nationals

The Zubair Group said on Saturday it will create 1,300 new jobs for Omani nationals as part of a massive recruitment drive in the sultanate.

The announcement comes as part of the Sultan Qaboos bin Said's drive to provide 50,000 new jobs for locals in both the public and private sectors.

The Zubair Group said in a statement that it will take on the new workforce across its wide range of industries.

Zubair's portfolio comprises investments, automotive, energy, real estate and construction, electric, tourism, furnishing, home and business solutions, information and communication technologies, cultural heritage and publishing.

The company added that the recruitment process will start immediately, and further announcements will be made shortly.

Khalid Al Zubair, managing director of The Zubair Corporation, said: "We are totally committed to wholeheartedly supporting His Majesty in his newest initiative to provide 50,000 Omanis with jobs across a number of sectors within our economy.

"The Zubair Group will employ 1,300 Omanis across our range of businesses," he added.

The group has more than 60 wholly owned companies, subsidiaries and associates in Oman, the Middle East, India, the Far East, Europe and the USA.
