Fifteen shot in Chicago on New Year’s day

A small memorial marks the spot in an alley where 20-year-old Octavius Dontrell Lamb was shot yesterday and killed, on January 2, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois. At 3:45 a.m., less than four hours into the New Year, Lamb became the first murder victim of 2013 in Chicago, a city which saw more that 500 murders in 2012. Fifteen people were shot in Chicago on the first day of the year, three fatally. Aurora, Illinois' second largest city, had no murders in 2012. (Getty Images)
