Gareth Bale is world’s most expensive footballer

Real Madrid have paid a world record transfer fee for Tottenham Hotspur footballer Gareth Bale. The Spanish giants paid EUR100m ($132m / GBP84.7) for the 24-year old Welsh international, beating the EUR94m ($124m / GBP80m) Real paid Manchester United for the services of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. Bale was unveiled as a Real player at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium by club president Florentino Perez.
