Horsemeat traces found in first doner kebabs

An employee of a Doner kebab stand prepares a Doner sandwich on February 23, 2013 in Berlin, Germany. The Europe-wide scandal over the contamination of beef products with horsemeat has reached the German capital, where, after laboratory tests, the latter has also been discovered in the city in two Doner sandwich stands and in frozen meat from a discount store. Authorities across the Continent continue to investigate the origin of ready-made lasagna that was labeled to contain only beef when it in fact also contained horsemeat. (Getty Images)

When a French company imports 750 tonnes of Romanian meat labelled Horsemeat and exports it labelled as Beef, and no-one in the 350 employee Company "knew anything about it", it is scarcely surprising that this "beef" is going to appear all over the place. Apart from the obvious fraud, no-one has died and not many people have been reported to be ill after consuming it. The fraud, it appears has been going on for years and none of the big Brand names bothered to do any checks.
