A look at this list tells us exactly what is wrong with the UAE economy and why the current model is simply unsustainable; out of the 50 top companies 26 (52%) are in the financial sector, 12 (24%) in the construction/real estate sector, and the remaining 12 (24%) in all the remaining sectors !!!!

@Tarek: you have got a point there!it's hard to have a trickle down when what tops the list is making an elite few richer and traps the middle class in a debt cycle. In the current business environment, even those who make 'big money' is reluctant to invest in other areas.

There is also a flip side to the market capitalization story. Which is the SME's who collectively contribute to a large chunk of economic activity in the UAE. General trading companies would be one single group which is fueling the financial and real estate sector in the country.

And we could have been spared of all the 50 clicks, when all they show is a random pic and a figure without even the a small para explaining how the companies got there.

@abdallah: this is not how a good research look like.maybe in an economy with extreme data-poverty, this might look like an apple pie.you have to taste it to know it's half baked!

I think you should not have to click the website 50 times to look at the list.

Totally agree, next time just make a list and spare us the pointless pictures.
