Volcano erupts in Indonesia

More than 5,000 residents have been evacuated from five villages in North Sumatra due to the volcanic eruptions of Mount Sinabung. The volcano has been erupting for several days, spewing ash and lava two and a half miles into the sky. Vast swathes of crops and plant life have been destroyed as the ash rains down, in what is the latest in a series of increasingly frequent eruptions since 2010.
