GYPSEMNA Company, one of the new and ambitious projects being launched by UAE's Jamal Al Ghurair Group, is participating in the 8th Global Gypsum conference, which will be held on May 12-13, 2008 at JW Marriott Hotel, Dubai.
The event, the only international conference dedicated to the World Gypsum Industry, is organized by Pro Publications International Limited, UK in cooperation with the Arab Union for Cement and Building Materials (AUCBM).
Global Gypsum conference is expected to be attended by over 200 delegates from more than 30 countries across the world. It will feature several world-class papers relating to the global gypsum industry and will showcase an impressive exhibition area featuring internationally-recognized gypsum producers, suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
"We are happy that the 8th Global Gypsum Conference will be held in Dubai and the timing of this event could not have been better as the construction industry here and across the region is witnessing a strong growth. This international conference is of considerable significance for us as we are a major new entrant in this field and are from UAE, the host country. I hope that this conference will shed some light on what role Gypsum based products will play in the future. We are therefore delighted to be part of this conference in Dubai" said Jamal Al Ghurair, Managing Director of GYPSEMNA.
The Global Gypsum Conference is an event that takes place every year in a different geographical region. Last year, the 7th Gypsum conference has successfully taken place in Shanghai on May 15-16 2007. Around 230 international delegates attended, as well as 120 registered Chinese delegates.
Approximately 200 Chinese gypsum industry participants in addition visited the event's exhibition. Delegates from 40 different countries attended the conference, and this was - to the organizers' knowledge - the largest and most international gypsum event ever.
Dubai is voted as the preferred choice for this major global event of the Global Gypsum industry, during last year's conference in Shanghai. It may be added here that the Supply Contract for equipment for Gypsemna's plasterboard project was signed during the last Global Gypsum conference in Shanghai.
Jamal Al Ghurair Group, which operates Al Khaleej Sugar, one of the world's largest sugar refineries, is also setting up PORCELLAN - considered to be one of the single largest advanced plants in the porcelain tile industry with an annual production capacity of 18 million sq.m of porcelain tiles - side by side with GYPSEMNA. Both plants are being built in the new Industrial City Musaffah of Abu Dhabi (ICAD-II) and are part of the groups foray into the regions booming building materials sector.
GYPSEMNA, with a capacity of 50 million Square meters per year of various types of plasterboard is expected to substitute imported plasterboards required for the booming construction industry of the United Arab Emirates and the other GCC countries. The plant is expected to be the first high speed line for plasterboard production in the region. "By global standards too, it is one of the largest-capacity plants being set up," says Mr. Al Ghurair. "The project implementation is in progress as per schedule and is expected to be completed by the end of year 2008" - he added.
