Sama Dubai, the international real estate development and investment arm of Dubai Holding, today announced the commencement of construction work for its highly anticipated ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai'.

When complete, the cluster of breath-taking towers will represent a new era of sophisticated architectural genius, featuring modern technical marvels that push the limits of design and innovation.

Centrepiece of ‘The Lagoons' Central Business District, ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' will comprise four state-of-the-art residential, commercial, retail and hospitality towers. Built at a cost of over AED20 billion, the mixed-use single-podium development will reflect a vibrant, bustling ambience, and distinctly mark ‘The Lagoons' skyline, reflecting Dubai's vision and commitment to fostering creativity.

Set against a backdrop of beautifully landscaped lush islands in the heart of Dubai, the architecturally brilliant ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' will be surrounded by its historic Creek. Easily accessible from a nearby metro station, the towers will be connected to the ‘The Lagoons'' network of navigable waterways as well as the rest of the Creek through a 40-berth marina.

Farhan Faraidooni, Executive Chairman of Sama Dubai, said: "We at Sama Dubai have acquired the necessary resources to undertake the architectural and engineering precedents for transforming the skyscrapers into a reality. We will embark on all measures to incorporate the best of breed preparation work for what are poised to become the new icons of real estate development and innovation on a global level."

Groundbreaking for ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' was held on 21 June, and enabling works will continue until mid 2009. Ranging between 60-91 floors, the estimated date of completion of ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' complex is 2014. With a total built-up area of more than 12.5 million square feet, the towers will incorporate high-end retail, ultra-chic restaurants, entertainment facilities, health spas, gymnasiums, hotels and residential apartments.

"Breaking ground at the ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' marks yet another milestone that demonstrates our commitment towards achieving a carefully studied unique investment opportunity and delivering developments that offer a consistent and complete corporate experience, not just for businesses, but for the people who live and work there. The towers will also set industry standards in premium office space designed around modern-day business demands, and incorporating ‘intelligent' building systems," added Faraidooni.

The highly unconventional luminous design of ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' will form a truly inspiring and dynamic sculpture that symbolizes an orchestrated movement of candlelight. Every aspect of the design will contribute to the creation of a bold visual facade.

In their design, the towers will consist of spiralling structures that rotate elliptically around a vertical axis to produce an aesthetically distinctive contour for each of the four towers. With every floor size progressively diminishing as the building rises higher, no floor plate design will be identical for any of the towers.

A scale model of ‘The Lagoons' development including the ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' is currently on display at the Central Boulevard of Emirates Towers.

Rising in ‘Al Dana' district, the commercial nerve centre of ‘The Lagoons', the towers will offer a state-of-the-art business environment for blue chip businesses and multinational corporations.

Located next to the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, ‘The Lagoons', an award winning development, promises a harmonious existence with the surrounding eco-systems. ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai' will encompass the same degree of environmental consciousness and is currently undergoing LEED certification. Featuring theatres, museums, an arts centre, music conservatory and the Dubai Opera House, ‘The Lagoons' will hold a wide appeal to tourists and residents seeking world class cultural attractions.
