HP today announced a comprehensive set of consulting services designed to help communications companies improve their competitiveness as they adapt to the convergence of telecom, IT and entertainment.

Building on its deep experience in these industries, HP has created Solutions Consulting Services (SCS), an integrated portfolio of services that translates customers' strategies and business needs into actionable solutions. With HP SCS, communications service providers can identify new revenue opportunities, enhance the customer experience, improve operational efficiency and manage the risks of new technology implementation.

At the core of HP SCS is a unique set of assets called HP COSMOS, which includes intellectual property, methodologies, processes and best practices. HP COSMOS manages transformational change across organizations, operations and technology.

Emphasizing a holistic approach, HP SCS helps service providers re-examine their business strategies, services, processes, organizations and systems to expose key interrelationships, then lays the foundation for change. Once business transformation strategies are clearly defined, HP works with service providers to create the new organizational and operational environment, as well as the right technology solutions.

"Working with HP SCS, service providers have achieved measurable revenue gains and operational efficiencies as well as the ability to deliver a better customer experience," said Amin Kayal, Communications, Media and Entertainment Manager, HP Middle East. "The key to success has been HP's core competence across the three converging industries of telecom, IT and entertainment."

HP provides SCS through telecom professionals in its consulting and integration business.

"The market landscape is changing, and service providers must also change to ensure they can deliver a compelling user experience," said Curtis Price, vice president, Infrastructure Services, IDC. "HP is providing a unique approach to transformational change that starts with a holistic view of all the various elements of transformation and ends with actionable solutions."

Holistic view for transformational change

To understand enterprise interrelationships, how they impact the business, and how they can be changed to support the business strategy, the HP SCS portfolio focuses on six areas where solutions can drive needed change:

• Product innovation - analyze a company's service offerings against its competition and recommend new services along with related success factors. Use HP predictive technology to forecast service adoption and customer acquisition costs.

• Process improvement - analyze all business processes to address gaps and overlaps. Deliver optimized processes that support business and operational transformation.

• Organizational change - evaluate structures to identify inefficient silos, weak links and poor use of people. Redesign structure to align with business and optimized processes.

• Architecture optimization - analyze technology infrastructure to identify improvements. Simulate performance of various technology options under projected usage demands.

• Transformational governance - assess risk and financial impact of change management program. Implement governance that ensures compliance goals are met.

• Financial evaluation - analyze financial outcome of re-aligning process, organization and technology. Forecast reductions in operational and capital expenditures.
