Nakilat and Q-ship take delivery of second LPG vessel

Qatar Gas Transport (Nakilat) and Qatar Shipping company (Q-ship) took delivery of Umm Laqhab the second in a series of four liquiefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carriers.
The delivery ceremony took place at the Hyundai Heavy Industries Company, shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. The four LPG vessels are to be owned through a 50:50 joint venture between Nakilat and Qatar Shipping Company named Gulf LPG Transport Company. Under terms of a vessel management agreement, Nakilat, through the wholly-owned subsidiary, Nakilat Shipping (Qatar) Limited, will operate the 82,000 cubic meter capacity carriers.
The remaining two vessels will be delivered between December 2008 and March 2009. With the increased growth in LNG production the volumes of LPG are also expected to grow, Nakilat and Q-Ship have positioned themselves to meet this expected demand.
