Capital markets specialist, John Gilchrist, has been appointed Head of the newly formed Communications, Marketing and Research Department at the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).

An industry veteran, John has previously been Director of Communications and Strategic Planning at the Dubai Financial Services Authority, Director of Corporate Communications for Clearstream International, the largest European supplier of post-trading services, and Corporate Planner at the London Stock Exchange.

“John is one of the most experienced figures in capital market communications, marketing and research”, said Tom Healy, Chief Executive of ADX. “We are delighted he has joined us at such an important time in our expansion, as we meet the challenges of developing more financial products, attract more institutional investment, and become the stock exchange of choice in the GCC region”, he continued.

ADX serves the domestic cash equity market and has 65 listed companies with a market capitalisation of US$136 billion as end of July 2008. In 2007, the average daily trading volume increased by more than 400%, with a substantial increase in foreign net investments.
