Bahrain City Centre shoppers for a dazzling aquatic treat
Press Release Content
Bahrain City Centre, the Kingdom’s largest shopping and leisure development, due to open in September continues to stream towards final completion.
A specially designed roof that will treat shoppers to a dazzling water reflection will give emphasis to the centre’s aqua-related theme.
Featuring a ‘Wave Wall’ as an integral part of its construction, the Galleria Skylight will harness the sun’s rays to bathe a vertical tiled area with soothing, rippling patterns, which will be reflected up from the ground-level water feature.
At 136 metres long, 28 metres wide and almost 37 metres high, the Galleria skylight will certainly be a striking feature for the visitors to enjoy. It will capture and reflect light onto the Wave Wall throughout the day. Different tile colours on the wall will create distinctly unique light effects that will subtly change as the sun dips towards the evening.
The unique roof structure was commissioned as one of the key elements that promote the mall’s close focus on water. Identifying with the Kingdom’s island status and its close connection with the sea (Bahrain translates as ‘Two Seas’ in Arabic), the centre will be home to the regions’ largest indoor/outdoor water park and will feature a number of joyful aquatic displays.
Shahram Shamsaee, Senior Vice- President of MAF Shopping Malls, believes that the Galleria Skylight feature will provide the perfect ambience for the mall. “The unique Skylight and Wave Wall will work together to project beautiful images of the mall’s main water feature, so that visitors will be able to appreciate the reflected glow and restful patterns as they use the centre’s many facilities,” he said. “It is the perfect touch to what will be the finest water-themed leisure development in the region.”
