VTEL Holdings, a leading regional telecom operator, its local subsidiary and individual license holder VTEL Jordan and Reliance Globalcom, a leading global provider of enterprise, wholesale, consumer and managed services, announced today the signing of an agreement to set up Jordan's second submarine cable landing.
This will be the first Terabit cable landing in Jordan, addressing the fast-accelerating demand for broadband connectivity in the country. It will offer an alternate communication gateway for providing diversity and redundancy to Jordan, and facilitate positioning it as an important regional hub for all sectors. It will also help to further reduce IP bandwidth costs and accelerate broadband penetration in Jordan.
"Our commitment to the Reliance Globalcom Submarine cable project and initial investment in fibre infrastructure throughout the country will be USD70M in the first year, and is expected to reach USD150M within the coming three years.
