The Alternative Energy Awards took place last night at a premier reception at the ADIPEC 2008 gala reception, with individuals, companies and developers receiving accolades recognising their contribution to promoting environmental awareness.
The ceremony, devised by Reflex Publishing’s Future Fuels & Energies magazine, took place in the Hiltonia Hotel in Abu Dhabi, and saw leading industry professionals celebrating success within the alternative energy industry. Now in its second year, the awards are dedicated to furthering the development and education of the use of sustainable energy sources.
The awards were presented to those who had made a substantial contribution to the cause, with categories including Project of the Year, which was given to Central Electricity Generating Company (AQABA), Developer of the Year, won by Tadweer Waste Treatment and the special consumer award, the Siobhan Live Green Team Award, which was picked up by GoGreen.com - a green website.
Eileen Michael, managing director of Reflex Publishing, said: “The awards ceremony was a great success and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to reward people for the hard work they put into developing renewable energy sources and highlighting this important cause.
