Etisalat has been named the best provider of carrier and wholesale services in the Middle East at the annual Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards, hosted by Capacity Magazine.
The Award was presented yesterday on the first evening of the Capacity Europe 2008 conference in Amsterdam.
"I’m pleased to present Etisalat with Capacity Magazine’s award for the ‘Best Middle East Wholesale Offering’,” said Mark Kemp CEO and Editor in Chief Capacity Magazine.
“In 2008, Etisalat has introduced a wide variety of sophisticated value added services and has delivered these to a high quality and consistent standard to a significant and growing client base across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. We are delighted to recognise Etisalat’s thought leadership in the development and implementation of its wholesale strategy by naming them best in the Middle East."
Capacity Magazine’s Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards were created to recognise market players, who through applying effective techniques and strategies to their wholesale businesses have established themselves at the forefront of the wholesale telecoms industry.
“Etisalat Carrier and Wholesale services was formed to provide connectivity and value added services to the region’s carrier community,” Ali Amiri, Etisalat’s Executive Vice President, Carrier and Wholesale services said. “This year we have launched ten new services, providing the largest and most comprehensive offering in the region. The hard work of everyone involved has helped us to delight our customers, even through major disturbances in international connectivity, and we are proud to accept this award as testimony of the efforts of all involved.”
This award comes just twelve months after the commercial launch of services. Etisalat is the largest carrier of voice traffic in the Middle East and acts as the regional hub for both regional and intercontinental connectivity. The UAE telco terminates calls at over 600 destinations, with 118 direct connections; and points of presence in the UAE, London, Frankfurt, New York, Amsterdam, and Singapore.
It also offers a comprehensive portfolio of international services and broadband capacity to telecommunications companies and mobile operators across the Middle East and around the world. These services include voice, Internet and a complete portfolio of global mobile and value added services.
