Prince Alwaleed receives Ambassador of Sri Lanka with a letter from President

HRH Alwaleed bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) received at his office Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mohamed Marleen Abdulmajeed.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Nahla Alanbar the Personal Assistant to HRH the Chairman.
The meeting began as the Sri Lankan Ambassador thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him and relayed warm regards from His Excellency President of Sri Lanka Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Sri Lankan ambassador handed a letter to HRH from the President of Sri Lanka inviting HRH to visit the country and explore possible areas of development in the country especially in the hotel sector.
H.E. the ambassador expressed to HRH his government’s desire to attract HRH’s investments to the country, and said that his government will strive to facilitate and overcome any difficulties or obstacles hindering the success of HRH’s investments.
The two continued talks on economic and investment issues related to their respective countries. Ambassador Abdulmajeed commended Prince Alwaleed on his local and international investments in the various sectors, and the Prince referred to the strong relations between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
In 2005, HRH visited Sri Lanka and met with President Chandrika Bandaranike Kumaratunga. His Highness donated $19 million to the victims affected by the Tsunami. The donation comprised of cash as well as clothes and tents.
The cash amount to $4 million. The articles of clothing were valued at $11.7 million, and ten thousand tents valued at $3.3 million. This assistance was funneled, as all others through the sole agency officially designated by the Saudi Government to provide aid to the countries ravaged by the Tsunami.
