Famed Egyptian actress Laila Ulwi takes centre stage on ‘Nashwa’

This week on the ‘Nashwa’ show is a special episode with Egyptian actress Laila Ulwi in which she celebrates with Nashwa the New Year.
Nashwa Al Ruwaini digs deep into the life of the actress uncovering her secrets, childhood experiences and her attachment to her Greek mother who will appear on television for the first time ever. ‘Nashwa’ is aired on Dubai TV every Monday at 22:30.
The show also welcomes those close to Laila, among them renowned photographer Adel Mabarez, her secretary Mona Akel and her doorman. Laila talks candidly about raising her son Khaled, the accidents she was subjected to, the rumours about her romantic life and her marriage a few months ago to businessman Dr. Mansour Al Jamal. She also talks of her hobbies, especially diving, shopping and cooking and reveals to Nashwa a few cooking secrets.
Laila also digs deep and shows the audience photos from her personal photo album that show her personal moments of success, pain and happiness. This week’s special episode takes a different angle and does not concentrate only on art but delves into the heart and life of an actress loved by all people.
‘Nashwa’ is a weekly, self-titled televised talk show broadcast on Dubai TV and presented and produced by Nashwa Al Ruwaini herself. The aim of the show is to journey through different social issues surrounding the Arab world and its people, discussing the current problems and issues faced by people all over the region.
The show tackles some of the most taboo and hidden aspects of today’s society and Nashwa has become a mother and sister for women, men and children all over the Arab world by pushing boundaries back and giving the people their platform to speak.
Each week, Nashwa invites a host of guests to talk about their experiences in all manner of subjects in order to break down barriers and encourage communication in order to find solutions.
The show is a result of cooperation between Dubai TV and Pyramedia, Nashwa’s own production company, which has grown to become one of the largest production companies in the region. The ‘Nashwa’ show has been running weekly on Dubai TV since May 2006.
Nashwa has been voted best female presenter for five consecutive years from 1998-2002 by various Arab newspapers and magazines and most recently won a Gold Award for Best Talk Show for ‘Nashwa’ in the Tenth Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival. She has also made the Forbes Arabia’s list of the 50 Most Powerful Arab Businesswomen twice and has been nominated for a Rose d’Or Award for Best Entertainer.
