Prince Alwaleed receives President of U.S. Saudi Arabian Business Council to discuss economic issues

HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, received at his office Mr. Edward Burton the President and Managing Director of the U.S. Saudi Arabian Business Council who was accompanied by Ms. Susanne Lendman, Vice President and Chief of Staff and Mr. Saudi AlSuwailah, Riyadh Office Manager for the U.S Saudi Arabian Business Council.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Nahla Alanbar, Personal Assistant to HRH the Chairman.
The meeting began as the two discussed the long standing friendship between Saudi Arabia and the United States. Also on the agenda of discussions was the current global economic crisis and the strategies required to overcome it.
Moreover, Mr. Burton presented Prince Alwaleed with an overview about the current projects undertaken by the U.S. Saudi Arabian Business Council and extended an invitation to His Highness to attend a lunch hosted in his honor and that would be attended by the American business community.
Mr. Burton said in light of HRH’s expertise and influence in the business world his voice needed to be heard now more than ever.
HRH has significant investments in the US through KHC in various sectors and has made contributions to universities and programs through to bridge the cultural gap between East-West for; HRH donated $20 million to Georgetown University as a gift to support and expand its Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU).
Furthermore, HRH donated $20 million to Harvard University to create the University-wide Islamic Studies Program. Prince Alwaleed also contributed $2.6 million to the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee to purchase an office building for their head quarters in Washington DC.
Moreover, HRH made a $5 million donation for the establishment of the Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR) at the American University in Beirut and donated $10 million to finance both the construction of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSS) building in the campus of the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR).
The AUB and the AUC projects that HRH had contributed to are the first of their kind in the region.
