Barriosiete.com help acquire funds for the victims of typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines

Bariosiete.com, one of the fastest growing blog in the Philippines and is authored by several Filipino bloggers from different parts of the country is reaching out for the victims of Typhoon Ketsana.
Last September 27, the website started a fund raising campaign and has now collected Php 63,688. The website is still calling for more donations as the number of victims from the calamity continue to grow.
Ketsana (Local name Ondoy) dropped the heaviest rain in more than 40 years on Manila and in neighboring provinces. 75%-80% of Manila was submerged in water, some as deep as 20 feet after 9 hours of rain. US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney even said that "It feels very much like Katrina".
The death toll is 240 and is still climbing, The number of affected people are 453,033 or 90,223 families and others are still missing.
Since the typhoon started, many lines of communications went down and cell sites offline. People with electricity and internet connection used websites such as facebook, plurk and twitter asking for help, spreading news and warnings to other people. Bloggers unite in a form of "web bayanihan" which quickly disseminate useful links and phone numbers to people in need of such information.
