“IP networks are a huge trend in the traffic industry right now, and we pride ourselves on responding to market demands, “ said Traficon’s Product Manager Robin Collaert.

“TrafiCam x-stream is an IP-addressable video detection camera, and real streaming video at full frame rate is now available with this new generation. Besides configuring and checking the system, the user is able to monitor the intersection both on-site and from a remote location. This sensor is, more than ever, an extremely user-friendly product - only two wires need to be connected and configuration can be completed in less than five minutes.”

Traficon is the global leader in video image processing for traffic analysis, producing technology for traffic data acquisition and automatic incident detection, directors of intersection vehicle presence detection and management, creators of safe, smooth-flowing traffic. An ISO9001 certified company, Traficon meets customer requirements by delivering reliable, high quality products, backed by 25 years of proven field experience and over 70,000 video detection sensors currently operational worldwide.

Traficon was recently awarded a contract by the Direction Inter-Départementale des Routes d’Ile-de-France (DIRIF) for delivering its Automatic Incident Detection (AID) solution in 22 tunnels in the Paris Region. Officially launched by the DIRIF in September 2008, this is the largest tunnel surveillance project of its type ever implemented in the world. Over the next three years, 1,400 cameras linked to Traficon’s Automatic Incident Detection (AID) system will be installed to intensively monitor traffic driving through the Paris region’s tunnels.

“The strength of this camera-based intelligent technology is its unique fast detection rate in combination with the direct visual feedback,” explained Steve Collins, Director of Traficon France. “Thanks to this intelligent surveillance system, the operator is instantly warned about any abnormal traffic behaviour inside the tunnel and can quickly launch all necessary steps to prevent an accident from escalating into a major tragedy - we working hard with our partners to make the Paris region tunnels the safest in the world.”

Advanced products and solutions such as those offered by Traficon are essential in meeting the critical business issues faced by industry professionals throughout the Middle East.
