Prince Alwaleed meets Murdoch to discuss 'alliances, Rotana'

FUTURE POTENTIAL: Prince Alwaleed met Rupert Murdoch to discuss 'future potential' alliances and investments. (Getty Images)

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, Saudi Arabia’s richest businessman, held talks with Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive officer of News Corp, in New York about “future potential” alliances and investments.

The Jan 14 meeting focused on “economic and investment issues, especially in the media sector” and on Rotana Media, Kingdom Holding Co, the Riyadh based investment company owned 95 percent by Alwaleed, said in an emailed statement today.

Rotana Media, which provides Arabic and English television content in the Middle East, plans to sell a 10 percent stake to News Corp for an undisclosed amount this month, Nezar Nagro, president of Rotana Media Services, told reporters on Dec 12.
