Abu Dhabi population to soar

Abu Dhabi's population growth may accelerate during the next several years as the emirate develops industries including tourism and trade, a government official said on Sunday.

"We expect it to continue at this rate or potentially even higher," said Khaldoon al-Mubarak, a member of Abu Dhabi's Executive Council."

The Executive Council manages Abu Dhabi's adminstrative affairs. Mubarak was speaking at a conference in Abu Dhabi organised by London-based Middle East Economic Digest.
