Entrepreneurial spirit

by Kim Latham

The real estate industry across the UAE is made up of numerous, dynamic individuals who help create mind-blowing projects. The notion of a ‘team spirit' has surely never been more appropriate for such a sector in the UAE in the 21st century.

But what makes someone stand out from the crowd? You only have to look at someone like Mehdi Amjad for the answer.
In 1995, Mr Amjad embarked on his own computers business - Al Masa Computers - within nine years it had grown into one of the largest IT distributors in the region.

Today, it has a turnover of around US$450m.

Now, the 30-year old CEO of Omniyat Holdings and Omniyat Properties oversees a real estate portfolio worth around US$3bn and he plans to double it this year.

The point is this. While Mr Amjad, and plenty of others like him will always need a creative team to help them build successful, reputable firms, - dreams, drive, creativity, a serious thirst for knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit are qualities that will inevitably take individuals to the very top of their industries.

Perhaps it is no real surprise that we continue to see so many icon projects springing up across the whole of the UAE with such dynamic CEOs standing firmly at the helm.
