GCC IT professionals cry ‘show me the money’

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer

IT staffers in the GCC feel they are not being paid enough despite salaries rising over 18% last year, a study shows.

According to a poll published last week by research firm YouGovSiraj and online job site Bayt.com, while the average salary for IT professionals in the GCC rose by 18.1% - the second highest hike recorded by any industry sector - that figure fell short of the 34% pay rise they felt they deserved.
The second figure takes into account such factors as the perceived increase in the cost of living in the GCC, reported as being at 24% over the past year.

The questionnaire found the average monthly salary in the IT sector is US$2,754; the fifth lowest in the survey, with law reporting the highest average monthly salary at US$5,878.

The report was derived from questioning over 270,000 Bayt.com members.
