European trends unveiled in Abu Dhabi

A trend for modern European architecture are showcased in the show homes at Al Raha, Abu Dhabi.

Architects, Serendipity and AR + D designed the 1388 units for ALDAR, based on a mixture of traditional villages and contemporary lifestyles. The six villas were decorated by a variety of different interior design houses including Quadros, ID design, .nuvo, Bayti and Poltrona Frau. Poltrona Frau used top designers including Cappellini, Cassina, Alias, Gebruder Thonet Vienna and Nemo.
The four bedroom AR + D villa incorporated modern oak kitchen and bathroom units, wooden floors and a sunny atrium, located next to the living room. On the interiors, Ilio Robert Allas of Poltrona Frau said: "The show home we created demonstrates the potential of each villa. The brief was quite specific in that we were not permitted any structural changes in order not to mislead potential buyers. All of the furniture, accessories and artwork were imported directly from Italy to create a modern family atmosphere." The interiors of the villa included brown leather sofas with cream lacquered furniture complete with crystal lamps. The second show home, a three bedroom villa, designed by Serendipity continued the European trend by using accessories from Dubai based furniture store, Bayti. Chrome accessories were prevalent throughout the villa in the beds, fixtures and fittings and brown textured scatter cushions created a modern tone.

Said Ali Reda of AR + D Architects: "The level of detail that has gone into the build and finish of the each of the villas is impressive - every element has been crafted from design through to implementation."

The residential project will include large areas of grassed community areas and is comprised of three, four and five bedroom Arabic and European style villas, due for completion in 2011.
