Al Raha Gardens to have in-house FM

by Adam Dawson

The US$ 462 million (AED 1.7 billion) Al Raha Gardens development in Abu Dhabi is to provide its own in-house facilities management.

Aldar properties which has already sold all 1388 villas wants to hold onto the day to day running of the development. Alistair Grant, project manager of the development said: "We aren't just building and selling these houses. We want to ensure Al Raha Gardens is a very desirable place to live and we will achieve this by managing the aftercare ourselves."
The aftercare of the development will include landscaping, security and MEP servicing. There will also be a 24-hour help desk for customer service needs.

"We also want to make sure that Al Raha Gardens are environmentally friendly," said resident manager Martin Shaw. "We will be providing bins for different types of waste rubbish and are looking into using solar power. We are also keen to use recycled water for all landscaping."

Aldar will be recruiting its staff from India and Pakistan, but are also keen to recruit from the Philippines. "The Philippines has a lot of good technical staff and often they speak good English, so we will be looking to get a lot of our staff from there."

The development is expected to be finished in 2011.
