Aldar's project ahead of schedule

Aldar Properties PJSC, Abu Dhabi's first and leading developer, said that its flagship Central Market project is slightly ahead of schedule and is ready to meet its dates of completion. The first phase of the project, the Souq, is set to be finalized by mid-2008.

The project's infrastructure and enabling works are already in place and its massive excavation works have been completed in addition to the he majority of its substantial permanent pile foundations. The foundations of the Souq have also been laid whereas the new construction works continue to progress upwards to the ground surface.
Aldar's plans to achieve early phase completion dates through a fast-track construction approach to the multi-purpose development has been the first major contract award for Phase 1 of the underground structure that went to Mushrif, the civil and heavy engineering Kuwaiti contractor based and expanding in the UAE.

Aldar has been working on dividing the huge project into several construction packages in order to assign several contractors at the same time. Aldar believes this is bound to reduce risk while also speeding up the construction process. The developer's plans include letting these works to international and local-based companies throughout 2007.

This year, Aldar plans to complete the underground car park and basement structure, to hold an excess of 5,000 cars, and the installation of, what it claimed to be, some of the largest pile foundations in the Middle East to support the three iconic towers designed by world-renowned architect Foster & Partners. The towers will accommodate residential, office and hotel.

"The Central Market project is well on course for completion and it is important that we maintain the momentum we have achieved so far. No major issues have arisen from the work conducted so we are happy with the project's progress. We are proud of what ALDAR has achieved so far and we are very confident that Central Market will regenerate and rejuvenate this unique and historical quarter of Abu Dhabi city," said Ronald Barrott, CEO of ALDAR.
