Microsoft-Yahoo merger a no go

Microsoft's mooted merger with Yahoo seems to have fizzled out, with reports now being described as inaccurate.

While the New York Post and The Wall Street Journal said on May 4 the two companies were discussing a merger, it appears the talks referenced had actually taken place several months ago, with Microsoft sources saying there are currently no discussions of any significance taking place between the two, according to various media reports.
It was still a busy week on the merger front however: financial information firms Thomson and Reuters have this week confirmed they are in talks over a US$17.5billion merger.
