Steel contracts in Oman for Dubai-based EBS

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer

Emirates Building Systems (EBS) has signed two major contracts in Oman worth US $7.6 million (AED28 million) for the supply of structural steel.

EBS manufactures steel structures and is a subsidiary of Dubai Investments.
While it has completed fabrication and supply of structural steel work for Muscat City Centre's expansion at a cost of $3.6 million, it has also finalised a twin deal - worth $2.6 million and $1.4 million - with Sohar Aluminium Smelter Project for the supply of its products.

EBS has also announced the appointment of Al Rawaj International Trading & Contracting as the certified builder in Oman, who will work in close coordination with its distributor Cemec Trading and Services.

"We see Oman as a high potential market, especially considering the pace of growth witnessed in the country over recent years," said Fouad Arwadi, general manager - sales, EBS.

"Our strategy is to expand to new markets in the region and in line with this we are working towards increasing our production capacity. Currently, our production capacity is over 60,000 tonnes per annum and we are on course to increase this to 75,000 tonnes within the next few months. EBS has the unique capability to provide a combination of hot-rolled and pre-engineered sections in a single design and package."
