Infinity Tower awarded to Arabtec

Arabtec has won a US $190 million (AED700 million) contract to construct Infinity Tower in Dubai Marina.

Dubai-based Cayan Investment and Development awarded the package.
Drake & Scull has picked up the MEP services contract while Currie & Brown has won the Project Management Services contract in a joint venture with El Seif Engineering Contracting.

Construction on the tower will start before the end of the year and completion is expected at the end of 2008.

Cayan chairman Ahmed Al Hatti said that Cayan had put a lot of effort into ensuring it appointed only the very best companies for the Infinity Tower contracts, as the tower will be constantly in the public eye.

“Because of its unique spiral design, everyone will be watching Infinity Tower grow, and we wanted a construction team that we know will not only deliver on time, but will also hand over a finished product that well and truly exceeds our clients’ expectations,” he said.

The 80-storey building will stand 330m high and will be the tallest twisting tower in the world – its design features a complete 90º twist from top to bottom.

The project recently won an award for ‘best architecture’ at the International Property Awards in London, beating off global competition.
