Hotel review: Al Raha Beach Hotel, Abu Dhabi
Located on the Al Raha Corniche, just a short drive from the airport and the city of Abu Dhabi, the Al Raha Beach Hotel is refreshingly easy to find.
On entering the hotel lobby, I was truly impressed by the grandeur and colour of its contemporary design while feeling warmly welcomed by the traditional Arabian hospitality.
Al Raha Beach Hotel caters very much for both executives and holidaymakers. Overlooking sandy white beaches with magnificent views of the Arabian Gulf beyond it is no wonder that it has become a favourite holiday destination for the international travel market.
Marketing itself as a key destination for meetings, conventions and events, the hotel is ideally located for easy access; only 10 minutes from Abu Dhabi Airport, and just 20 minutes into the city. The resort is also just a 45 minute drive from Dubai's Internet and Media Cities, the hub of ‘New Dubai'.
The hotel has a range of well-appointed meeting rooms, banquet halls and conference facilities and provides a full range of requirements for corporate clients. Facilities include the large ballroom that caters for up to 500 people or, alternatively, for smaller affairs there are a number of perfectly equipped smaller rooms which can accommodate from 10 to 30 people. Wireless LAN and projectors are also available throughout the meeting and function rooms. There is also the option of hosting VIP guests in one of the five Royal Suites where business can be conducted in absolute privacy and exclusivity.
Another attractive pulling point has to be the Abu Dhabi Golf Course where corporate guests can enjoy the surroundings and take in a round of golf for those looking for some post-business de-stressing.
The hotel has three restaurants; the Sevilla, Al Manzil and La Piscine set by the pool, all with outdoor terraces overlooking the Arabian Sea. I dined in Sevilla, which offers dishes with European, Italian and Asian influences on buffets or a la carte. The stylish restaurant is marked by an open kitchen and is dominated by a central skylight creating distinctive day and night moods. The service, like everywhere in the hotel, was efficient and polite. The food was exceptional and one of the best international buffets I've tasted.
The Al Raha is definitely a hotel to consider for those wishing to mix business with pleasure.
