Hospital contract for Al Naboodah

by Rupert Cornford

Al Naboodah Contracting is set to build Canal Point Hospital for Istithmar in a lump sum deal thought to be worth US $136 million (AED500 million).

"We are just starting; the piles have been done by Middle East Foundations," said Sadek Owainati, deputy general manager, Al Naboodah Contracting (Building Division).
"The design has just been finished and we are now looking at the subcontracts. The electro-mechanical is being done by Transgulf, and we will tender the other subcontracts," he added.

Work comprises the construction of two basements, ground, plus eight floors. And the hospital will have a capacity of 200 beds. Burt Hill is the consultant on the project, which is expected to finish in early 2009.

Canal Point is a mixed-use development located in the Jumeirah Lake Towers area of Dubai. It will comprise the hospital, a 250-room hotel, spa and wellness centre, two residential towers and two office towers.

Al Naboodah Contracting is also currently working on 305 villas for the Al Barari residential development, and phases two and three of the Al Badia development in Dubai Festival City.
