Abu Dhabi to honour Asian business stars

Abu Dhabi has been chosen to host the first Asian Business Awards to be held in the Arab world.

The Asian Business Awards Middle East 2007 will be presented at a gala ceremony a the Emirates Palace Hotel in December, honouring the contribution of the Asian business community to the region.
Nadia Zaal, CEO of awards sponsor real estate firm Al Barari, said “The Asian community has played such an important role in the development of the UAE and the region as a whole. An acknowledgement of their achievements in business and development is really long overdue and we were keen to support this landmark celebration.”

The awards will recognise the achivements of Asian business leaders who have made a mark on the Middle East, strengthening the traditional ties between the two regions.

The Awards will be divided into eight categories: outstanding Asian businessman of the year, outstanding Asian business woman of the year, Asian rising star, young Asian achiever, outstanding contribution to Middle East development, Asian business leader of the year, global Asian of the year and lifetime achievement award.

Business advisory services provider PricewaterhouseCoopers has set the criteria for each category. Nominations will be open to the public from October 1 and can be registered on the Asian Business Awards Middle East 2007 web site, www.abameonline.com.

Eighteen finalists in six of the categories will be announced in November 9, based on public votes backed by a jury of business leaders, government officials and commentators. Global Asian and lifetime achievement awards will be exclusively selected by the jury.
