ACC and Arabtec join forces
A joint venture between ACC and Arabtec has been awarded a US $41 million (SYP 2.1 billion) contract from Emaar IGO to carry out construction work at the Eighth Gate Development in Damascus, Syria.
Work will involve the construction of four buildings at the project and is expected to be completed over a 20 month period.
Arabtec is already working with Samsung and Besix on Emaar's Burj Dubai project.
"This project award in Syria is a significant step for Arabtec as it compliments the established and distinguished relationship with Emaar," said Riad Kamal, CEO of Arabtec Holding.
The contract win also falls in line with Arabtec's expansion beyond the UAE.
"Arabtec is pleased to joint venture with ACC to construct this project," added Kamal.
"ACC is a recognised contractor for its quality and ability to deliver projects on time and shares with Arabtec the strategic importance of diversifying its operations in the Middle East."
Arabtec also won a $14.8 million contract earlier this month from Dubai Municipality to carrry out drainage work at Al Nahda 1 and Al Mamzar.
