Why chose the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome?
Ideally located on Rue de la Paix, a few steps from the Place Vendome, Park Hyatt Paris - Vendome, is in the heart of the City of Lights. The Louvre Museum and the Opera House are within short walking distance as are Paris' most famous luxury shops on Rue du Faubourg St Honore and the Tuileries Garden. Design features we love?
The hotel combines classic Parisian style with Ed Tuttle's imaginative flair. He is one of America's most renowned architects and although he has done residential projects for couturier Kenzo Takada and painter Brice Marden, he is perhaps best known for his work with the Amanresorts in Thailand. His aim for the hotel was "to build a palace, a really new luxury hotel" using the basic elements of the building to accentuate beautiful furniture, luxurious fabrics and design.
The main structure of the hotel is in fact five different buildings from the Hausmanian period and they have been transformed into a single unit with symmetrical spaces, high ceilings, a series of colonnades as well as open and covered courtyards all of which reinforce the hotel's quiet palatial character.
The sleek, sensual interiors incorporate natural substances such as sandy French limestone and classical mahogany. Perhaps the most striking interior design element is the use of contemporary artwork and sculpture which were specially curated by renowned gallerist Darthea Speyer.
Jaune de Chrome's Christian Lepage, whose clientele includes top chefs and celebrities such as Alain Ducasse and Sharon Stone was selected to supply all of the hotel's china and it is this scrupulous attention to detail is what makes the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome experience unlike any other.
What's so special about the art then?
The paintings and sculptures contribute greatly to the overall energy flowing through Ed Tuttle's architectural composition and each has been selected to correspond to the mood of its location.
For instance, the soft hues of Lightning on Higgins Pond - an imposing diptych by Sideo Fromboluti enhances the serene ambience of the main entrance. Other international contemporary masters include Ed Paschke, Sam Gillaim and Roseline Granet who has been refered to as the Rodin of our century.
Her large bronze sculpture entitled Le Grand Couple en Marche boldly welcomes guests as they enter the foyer and she has also been commissioned to craft bronze door handles, lamps and other fixtures in public spaces and bedrooms.
