Emaar launches hospitality school

Emaar Education will open a hospitality training school to keep up with the region’s growing hospitality sector, the company announced on Sunday.

The school, run through the education subsidiary of Emaar Properties through Raffles Campus will offer hospitality management programmes in collaboration with Australia’s Box Hill Institute.

The Raffles Campus School of Hospitality will offer customised courses to employees of organisations in the hospitality industry such as hotels, resorts, recreational clubs and food and beverages outlets.
“The hospitality sector is one of the fastest growing business sectors in the region, evolving in tune with the impressive tourism growth. It is important to build a skilled and competent workforce for the industry. The Raffles Campus School of Hospitality will train and equip students with the industry best practices, and create a talent pool of professionals for the hospitality sector,” Boon Yew Ng, chief executive officer, Emaar Education, said in a statement.

According to the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the number of hotel visitors to Dubai will rise to ten million by 2010 from about seven million last year.

The number of hotels and hotel apartments is expected to increase to 488 by 2010, up from 452 in 2007, and Dubai’s room strength will also rise to 64,179 from 51,168 room units in 2007.
