Europe falls behind

If European airports fail to keep up with demand, then airlines will look outside the region, according to a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit.

Between 2010 and 2012 air passenger numbers are expected to grow by 2.9% in Europe, but the report claims that the region's major hubs are already over-stretched and run the risk of losing business from airlines unless they respond to the long-term prospects.
