Arabic and Islamic Studies will play a key part in the curriculum at the first overseas campus planned by top UK private school Brighton College, it was announced on Monday.

UAE developer Bloom Properties is teaming up with the school to develop its brand worldwide, with Abu Dhabi the base for the first two schools.
Bloom Education, the education arm of the developer, announced that the first will be integrated into Bloom Gardens, the exclusive gated residential development comprising 640 villas and apartments.

Bloom said Brighton College’s campus would be a purpose-built school with state-of-the-art facilities.

Hani Raydan, GM of Bloom Ventures, said: “The majority of staff will be sourced from the United Kingdom, carefully handpicked by Brighton College UK. All teachers will possess teaching qualifications in addition to their university degrees.

"In addition, highly qualified teachers from Arab countries, trained in new teaching methodologies, will teach a strong Arabic, AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) and Islamic Studies curriculum for Muslim students."

Dr Hani Shammah, CEO of Bloom Properties, added: “Brighton College will bring the right social infrastructure to the Bloom Gardens residential community...Brighton College will complete this development with its outstanding academic reputation.”

The location of the second Brighton College campus in Abu Dhabi will be announced in the near future.

It will cater for children at both primary (age 2 to 13) and secondary level (13-18) and is intended to become the leading high school in the Middle East and a beacon of excellence in the world.

After Abu Dhabi, further Brighton College plans will be drawn up for Mauritius, Oman, Jordan, Romania, Vietnam and India.
