Dubai simplifies 'doing business'

by Martin Morris

The Business Registration and Licensing Division at the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has terminated the use of 'Smart Chip' in administering trade licenses, advertisement permits, banking collaterals and bank deposit certificates at its branches.

The initiative comes as part of DED's restructuring of several licensing procedures to simplify doing business in Dubai.

Sami Al Qamzi, Director General, DED, said: "DED's strategic objective is to create an investor-friendly environment in Dubai that will encourage investors to consider Dubai as their investment destination of choice. We have therefore simplified several licensing procedures to further ease the process of setting up businesses."
Mohammed Shael, CEO, Business Registration and Licensing Division, DED said: "Terminating the use of the Smart Chip will help customers save much time and effort. They can now set up businesses with the minimum of procedures and paperwork."
