Drake & Scull International (DSI) has been awarded a AED226m ($61.5m) mechanical, electrical and plumbing contract for a development on Palm Jumeirah.

The contract for the Kingdom of Sheba development brings the total value of DSI’s contracts on the man-made Dubai island to AED1.4bn, the firm said in a statement on Tuesday.
The mixed-use residential and leisure luxury resort on the crescent of the palm is the fourth project IFA Hotels & Resorts has awarded the Dubai-based contractor.

DSI has been awarded the contract for the first phase of the development which consists of the residential component, Balqis Residence, and the private residence club, Fairmont Heritage Place, Kingdom of Sheba.

The contract means DSI is now the largest MEP contractor on the island, working on six separate projects, covering a total built up area of 1.2 million square metres.

DSI is currently involved in projects across the MENA region with a total value reaching approximately AED 6bn.
