I think its fantastic that the building has been completed in time. Even if some sections inside aren't scheduled to be completed before opening, it doesn't take away the pride that the people who worked on the building and in fact, all the people in the UAE must be feeling during the opening ceremony.

Be nice if it did open on time - I suspect the buidling will be visually complete from the outside by that time; but the fit out works will still be taking place for a long long time to come...
The problems of the Metro are a little more obvious to see however, with work seemingly grinding to a halt on more than half the stations. It's going to be a big rabbit out of the bag to see the red line fully operational on 09.09.09

This is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for Dubai. I believe, with current global recession, Burj Dubai should hold its world record for a longer period, perhaps for the next ten years.
