Dubai to help set up Yemen stock exchange

Dubai Financial Market (DFM) is assisting Yemen to establish its own financial market, a senior Yemeni economic official has revealed.

Jalal Yaqoub, Undersecretary of Yemen's Ministry of Finance said he had held meetings with Essa Kazim, executive chairman of DFM, during his recent visit to Dubai to discuss how Yemen could benefit from the Dubai's technical and technological expertise, news agency WAM reported on Saturday.
"The Ministry of Finance is intending to launch the Yemen stock exchange by year-end," he said, adding that nine government companies would be selected to implement governance standards for listing purposes.
