Gulfood predicts record visitors

by Laura Barnes

This year's Gulfood is set to see more than 40,000 visitors attend from across the region. Held from February 19 to 22, the show, which is now in its 12th year, will see international exhibitors including illycaffe and Lamb Weston, as well as regional companies like Supreme Foods and Food Point. Last year, more than 2000 companies exhibited from 70 countries. Due to demand, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will increase floor space this year by 40%, to include the new Zabeel Hall.

"The show has kept on growing year after year, and this year we will also have an area dedicated to the packaging and labelling industry," commented Elly Habt, project manager exhibitions, DWTC.
Running alongside the show, the Emirates Culinary Guild will also be organising the Salon Culinaire. The four-day event will include seminars and cooking demonstrations.

Additionally, for the second year running, Dubai Municipality will also be hosting the Dubai International Food Safety conference. With food safety professionals from Australia, France and the UK expected to attend, it will look at the latest trends and developments as well as seminars on food safety systems, regulations and best practices in risk assessment.
