National Bank of Abu Dhabi turns to Fujitsu for new core banking solution

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has awarded Fujitsu Services with a contract to supply Fujitsu Siemens Computers Primepower 900 servers as the platform for its new core banking system.

The region’s first such implementation sees Fujitsu Services provide UAE-based expertise and certified skills to successfully integrate Oracle 10g Release 2, Veritas Storage Foundation 4.1 MP1 and Solaris 10, to boost NBAD’s core banking system.
Srood Sherif, head of IT at NBAD, says: “To maintain a competitive edge in the regional banking industry, we were looking for highly reliable servers that not only reduce downtime but also lower cost.

“Going by Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ track record and backed by Fujitsu Services’ hardware delivery and post installation support, the Primepower 900 is ideal for deploying the Solaris-based, Intellect core banking system from Polaris,” he adds.

NBAD selected Primepower 900 for its scaleable performance and flexibility in consolidating different servers and applications onto a central high-performance system.

“By delivering high-end server capabilities we are providing NBAD with new levels of flexibility, built-in reliability and proven performance for its mission-critical computing needs,” says Fadi Helou, Fujitsu Siemens sales manager for large enterprise.
