W Hotels green lights The Palm

W Hotels Worldwide has announced plans to build a second property in Dubai on The Palm Jumeirah.

Scheduled to open late 2009,the 400-room W Dubai-The Palm will be located on the crescent section of The Palm.
W Hotels Worldwide president Ross Klein said The Palm Jumeirah was "one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken".

"W Dubai-The Palm will offer our guests a truly distinct experience in one of the most vibrant and unique destinations in the world."

The development will be a joint project between W Hotels Worldwide's parent company Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and Al Sharq Investment.

Al Sharq Investment chief executive Steve Tight said: "We are committed to delivering high-end, innovative developments, and we believe that partnering with the W brand will provide a unique guest experience that will exceed even the most discerning traveler's expectations".

The development will include restaurant outlets, destination bar and spa, and access to luxury boat marinas.
