Arabtec wins $133m Dubai airport contract

by Reuters

A subsidiary of Arabtec Holding has won an AED487m ($133 million) contract to build a drainage and sewerage system at Dubai's Jebel Ali International Airport, Arabtec said on Sunday.

Arabtec Engineering Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the largest United Arab Emirates construction company by market value, will install more than 100 km (62 miles) of pressure pipes and more than 120 km of gravity drain pipes, it said.
The 18-month contract is part of "Arabtec's strategy of adding non-building construction works to its projects portfolio," Riad Kamal, managing director of Arabtec Holding, said in a statement on the Dubai bourse website.

Dubai is spending $33 billion on its new international airport and on infrastructure around the site.
