Arabtec picks up Dubai World Central contract

The Department of Civil Aviation in Dubai has awarded a US $132.5 million (AED487 million) contract to Arabtec Engineering Services to carry out storm water drainage and sewerage system implementation in Dubai World Central at Jebel Ali International Airport.

The project duration is 18 months and consists of supplying and installing the underground utilities for Dubai World Central which includes the networks for storm water, sewerage and irrigation, pumping stations, irrigation storage tanks and retention ponds. The work will include more than 100km of pressure pipes and more than 120km of gravity drain pipes up to 3,200mm in diameter. Riad Kamal, managing director, Arabtec said: "The contribution of Arabtec Engineering Services in carrying out infrastructure works falls within Arabtec's strategy in adding non building construction works to its projects portfolio."
Arabtec Engineering Services is a subsidiary of Arabtec Holding and specialises in carrying out engineering services related to infrastructure works including sewerage, storm water and irrigation networks. Arabtec Engineering Services is already carrying out projects for Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Dubai Investments Park.
