A contemporary and distinctly family orientated community, Al Furjan aims to capture the principles of traditional neighbourhood living, combining spacious villas and terraced housing with abundant open spaces and a multitude of amenities.  Set in 560 hectares south of Ibn Battuta Mall and adjacent to Discovery Gardens and The Gardens, Al Furjan wil have over 4,000 homes. The name Al Furjan means a collection of homes or a small village and represents a community lifestyle from the past. Inspired by the objectives of 'new urbanism', the masterplan utilises planning and architectural principles that will together create a convenient, accessible, family focused development.

The neighborhoods, divided into four distinct communities, aim to provide a sanctuary of well planned spaces framed by architecture and landscape design that celebrate local history and embrace modern building practices. Each community will be defined by its own village centre offering a variety of amenities from supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants and parks to medical centres, mosques, and gyms all within easy walking distance. Two schools are also planned for Al Furjan.

Al Furjan combines 3, 5 and 6 bedroom villas and 3 bedroom terraced homes with open spaces for children and families to interact. Inspired by traditional regional designs, villas in the first phase of the development will be one of two styles; the Dubai, a favoured local architectural style, or the Quortaj, a fusion of Islamic and Mediterranean architecture.
